MSU Seeks 4th Cohort for their 10-month Intensive Fellowship in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health
This 10-month continuing education program offers professionals the opportunity to examine the optimal physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of infants, toddlers and young children within the context of the family. The program is designed for professionals who work in the fields of psychology, counseling, social work, education, pediatrics, nursing, home visiting, early intervention, early care and education, child protection, and other allied health fields, focusing on the relationship between infants, young children and their families. The content builds upon the learning of the Keeping Babies and Children in Mind: Professional Formation Series in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health.
The 10-month Intensive runs from October 2020 through July 2021 with two learning sessions per month – one Saturday per month and one Wednesday per month. All meetings will be through a virtual on-line platform for now. When able, we will return to in-person sessions on Saturdays. Fellows will also be provided readings to complete in advance of each session. Fellows will learn advanced topics in infancy and early childhood development, emotional and relational health, assessment and intervention strategies, and systems working to support infants, children, and families in the first years of life.
The 10-month Intensive meets all competencies in Theoretical Foundations, Law, Regulation & Policy, and Systems Expertise towards the New Jersey Association for Infant Mental Health Competency and Endorsement System (www.nj-aimh.org/endorsement). It also provides 24 hours of Reflective Consultation by an Infant Mental Health Clinical Mentor (IMHM-C). In total, the program provides 110 hours of instruction. Successful completion of the certificate will require attendance at least 90% of the program. Continuing education units (CEU’s) for Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors, and New Jersey teachers can be provided upon request. Cost for the Advanced Intensive is $3000, payable in 10 equal installments due on the 1st of each month. A deposit of $300 is due upon acceptance and will be counted towards the final payment. Cash, check or credit accepted.
