Practitioners' Lens: Schools and OST Providers on Middle and High School Social and Emotional Learning Programs - join this webinar on Thu Apr 6 - 3pm
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, educators around the country are seeing an increasing need to support youth and adolescents who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, fear, trauma, food insecurity, or even homelessness. One crucial avenue through which the youth development field can help support young people is through the development of social and emotional skills, behaviors, and beliefs.
We’re excited to invite you to join us for an insightful webinar, co-hosted by the Forum for Youth Investment and Afterschool Alliance, in which we will dive into Stephanie Jones’ report, Navigating SEL from the Inside Out, and the implications and lessons that the report has for the youth development field. This report, commissioned by The Wallace Foundation, was released in November 2022 and focuses explicitly on middle and high school SEL programs.
During the webinar, Stephanie Jones, a professor of Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, will share insights on selecting an evidence-based program for older youth and what she learned through her review of 18 SEL programs that focus on this age group. Following her presentation, a panel of youth development practitioners from around the country will share their experiences and best practices for developing social and emotional skills and competencies when working with middle and high school-aged youth.
