Are you interested in better understanding and addressing the unique needs of special populations in out-of-school time (OST)? Would you like to learn how to expand support systems to create welcoming, inclusive, and equitable environments? Join our presentation and interactive discussion on Thursday, September 26 from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. ET.
Presenters from the Office of Child Care’s (OCC) National Center on Afterschool and Summer Enrichment (NCASE) and the Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will share insights from research and practice on students with identified challenges characterized as special populations. Presenters will then facilitate an interactive conversation about ways to authentically encourage inclusive and equitable engagement in OST activities highlighted in a new NCASE technical assistance (TA) resource: Serving Special Populations Effectively in Out-of-School Time. Participants will have the opportunity to share their best practices for authentically encouraging engagement in OST activities and to ask questions of the presenters.
