Webinar Recording: Using OST Job Quality Standards to Address Recruitment and Retention Challenges

Last month, the National AfterSchool Association released the Out-of-School Time Job Quality Standards (JQS), a critical step forward in our Thriving OST Workforce Initiative. Developed in collaboration with leading experts and stakeholders in the field, these standards represent a pivotal milestone in the ongoing efforts to promote job quality and workforce stability within the OST sector. The corresponding Usage Guide & Assessment provides various audiences with a roadmap for effectively using the OST Job Quality Standards.

At the time, NAA CEO Gina Warner shared, “The release of the Out-of-School Time Job Quality Standards marks a turning point for the OST profession. These standards provide a comprehensive framework for defining and promoting ‘good jobs’ within the OST sector, setting the stage for a more stable and effective workforce.”

A key factor in the development of a stronger workforce is the sharing and implementation of the standards. To that end, we held our first Job Quality Standards webinar on Wednesday, July 24. Titled “Using OST Job Quality Standards to Address Recruitment and Retention Challenges,” the webinar explored essential indicators of the job quality standards, their possible uses in addressing challenges of recruitment and retention, and the applicability of the standards from the systemic to program level.
