"The All-Star Ambassadors of After-School All-Stars NJ are a group of scholars who, through rigorous selection processes, have demonstrated leadership and a passion for advocacy and service in their communities.
These young leaders and the mentors identify ways to improve the ASAS NJ program experience, but moreover, they identify issues they are passionate about such as:
- Unjust social & justice systems
- Displacement, homelessness & hunger
- Stray animal protection
- Community pride & cleanliness
- Unsafe/unhealthy school lunches
- Food deserts & lack of healthy food access
- Impact of anxiety & neurodivergence
They then work together to identify impactful ways to address these issues.
Our theory is that we do not “make a seat/place at the table” for young people.
We give them the tools and support to “create their own tables” and invite others to hear their voices.
We believe that these scholars are leaders of today & tomorrow and that our world is a better place, simply because they are in it.”
Youth Voice Week Town Hall 2024
Join us Thursday, March 28, at 3 p.m. ET for an empowering Youth Voice Town Hall taking place during Youth Voice Week 2024. Now more than ever, it’s vital to provide youth with the space to discuss what’s on their minds and the opportunities they need to thrive.
The spotlight will be on the amazing young people in afterschool programs.
- It is vital to provide youth the opportunity to share their voices and ideas about things they care about. Afterschool is an important space for helping youth develop the confidence and skills they need to share those ideas. During Youth Voice Week, taking place from March 25-29, 2024, we’re amplifying young people’s voices as they share the issues that are most important to them. We’d love for you to join us.
